Colorado Wedding Photographer: Friday Favorites: {Reception Decor}

Today I am getting our house prepared for our 5 yr. old niece who will be spending the night with us. By “getting the house prepared” I mean that I will finally be UNPACKING my suitcase that has been sitting in our living room since we got back from vacation almost two weeks ago! I know how pathetic it must sound that I’ll just now be unpacking, but with 2 weeks of vacation, getting back into work required overdrive mode the past couple of weeks, so can you blame me? ; ) Oh, and most importantly, I am prepping some yummy cinnamon rolls for us to cook tomorrow morning using this recipe I found over on Ashley Ann’s Under The Sycamore blog. What is everyone else doing to get ready for the weekend?

For this Friday’s Favorites, I decided to focus on reception decor. I love how all of these looks are rustic yet elegant at the same time. One common theme that I noticed that make for a beautiful reception area: Lights. Pretty strung lights, lanters, candle light, hung chandeliers: all of these can add so much to a very simple space such as a backyard garden reception or a barn reception or even a more formal ballroom.

My absolute favorites are row one, photo 2: I love the small tealite holders hung with ribbon over the tables! So pretty. And I also love love love row 2 photo 3: the decor looks so simple and yet so elegant. I love that the flower centerpieces are low so they add texture and color but don’t block the view or conversation area when sitting across from someone and the tall candelabras look elegant and add that vertical height without getting in the way.

So which ones are your favorites? Happy Friday!

Favorite? I think row 1 picture 3 because it reminds me of Hogwarts.
I thought I taught you about packing/unpacking.
Step one: Do laundry
Step two: After folding laundry, stick it in your suitcases.
Step three: Go on vacation.
Step four: Come home and throw everything in the washer.
Step five: Put suitcases away. ;)

I think row 2 picture 2 is my favorite just because of the location. Don’t feel bad about just now unpacking. My goal preparing for the weekend is to put the house in order. Cooper is 3 weeks old today and the apartment has pretty much been a disaster zone since the week before he was born. So if just having a suitcase kicking around was the worst of it, I would say you are ok ;)
